Ghana’s “Rain God” Batman Samini yesterday lifted the MOBO award for “Best African Act”
Up against stiff competition from P-Square, Tony Tetuila, Lebo Mathosa and Jose Chameleone, Samini emerged as the people’s choice. He is only the second artist to receive the award alongside Youssou N’Dour
Before the loudest cheer of night, he thanked his fans and added, “I am Batman Samini, from COBO – The Continent Of Black Origin”.
Samini makes a unique blend of reggae, dancehall and Ghanaian hiplife. He made his name in Ghana with the hit ‘Linda’, and his latest self-titled album Samini is currently the most downloaded Ghanaian album on iTunes worldwide.
